Tool-specific practical guide

How to use the Resume checker correctly

Use the resume checker after you have a complete draft. It reviews visible text, section coverage, length signals, quantified evidence, and terms shared with a job post. It is a transparent checklist, not an employer's applicant-tracking system and not a prediction of hiring success.

Before you start

Copy the resume as readable text and use the complete job post from its original source. Keep the designed file open because text analysis cannot reliably judge page breaks, columns, font size, colour contrast, or every PDF extraction problem.

  • The final resume text exactly as it appears in the document.
  • One complete job post with navigation and unrelated adverts removed.
  • The original PDF or Word file for a separate visual and extraction check.

How to use it

  1. Paste the resume and job post into their separate fields without combining sources.
  2. Read section and evidence findings before looking at any overall indicator.
  3. Open every unmatched concept in its original vacancy sentence and decide whether it is truly required.
  4. Make only accurate changes, then repeat both the text check and the visual file check.

Example and interpretation

A post repeatedly asks for stakeholder management and reporting, while the resume only says “communication and follow-up.” The checker flags a possible gap. The applicant adds the terms only after confirming that a real project involved stakeholder updates and scheduled reporting.

A flagged term is a question for review, not an instruction to insert it. The change is justified only when the candidate performed the work and the clearer wording still fits the source experience.

Limits

The checker cannot reproduce a specific employer's ATS configuration, judge the candidate pool, or assess visual layout completely. Use it to locate questions for manual review—not as technical certification or a hiring forecast.

Privacy: The resume checker does not need identity numbers, passwords, bank details, medical records, private referee data, or confidential employer material. Replace names and restricted figures with neutral examples wherever possible.

Pre-use review checklist

  • Every name, date, amount, title, and claim used by the resume checker matches the current source.
  • The resume checker result answers the original goal and does not add an experience, entitlement, or promise that was not supplied.
  • For the resume checker, assumptions and missing information are visible, and any legal or financial point has been checked against the latest official source.
  • Sensitive, irrelevant, or third-party information has been removed before the resume checker result is saved or shared.

Review the resume checker result once as its intended reader. For the resume checker, check facts first, then relevance, wording, layout, and privacy in separate passes; ask a qualified person to review a difficult-to-reverse decision.
